Relaxation of licensing hours during the FIFA World Cup 2014 Consultation
The Home Office has today launched a two week consultation on the proposal to relax licensing hours for the England matches in this year’s World Cup. The consultation will run from today until 26 March.
The Home Office are consulting on whether there should be a national relaxation of licensing or whether this should be a local decision using the existing system of Temporary Event Notices.
The relaxation would apply to all England matches with a scheduled kick off time of 8pm or later (UK time). This would relate to the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises only and the provision of late-night refreshment in on-trade licensed premises, it would not cover regulated entertainment.
