The Home Office has written to Local Authority Chief Executives inviting expressions of interest to take part in a LAAA project which aims to offer up to 20 areas with high alcohol-related harms help with local initiatives over a 15 month period.
The Government has launched a consultation on the future of personal licences today. It is of the opinion that the current system of personal licences may not always be the most proportionate or effective way to ensure alcohol is sold responsibly.
In R (o.a.o. 93 Feet East Ltd) v Tower Hamlets LBC, the High Court confirmed that interim steps imposed on a summary review under the Licensing Act 2003 remained in force pending appeal. This ruling confirms a similar ruling by a district judges (not associated with this case) in December 2011.
